Lead Lab Technician

Job Description:

The Lead Test Technician performs special tests and inspections that are required to certify equipment for use in the nuclear power industry.  Testing electrical/electronic components and systems is the primary function of the position, but it may also include mechanical equipment and raw materials (steel, rubber, fasteners, etc.).  Tests range from simple functional tests up to complex environmental and seismic (earthquake) simulation tests, and work is performed according to documented procedures and under stringent Quality Assurance requirements.  The Lead Test Technician provides training and guidance to junior technicians and leads the execution of complex projects.

Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Lead the execution of complex projects and solve technical problems
    • Train and mentor junior technicians
    • Set up and operate test equipment
    • Perform inspections and tests in accordance with procedures and in a safe manner
    • Document test results and complete detailed test reports
    • Review test reports and ensure all required data is recorded and all parameters are within specifications
    • Read and understand technical documentation, such as datasheets, drawings, test procedures, equipment manuals, etc.
    • Communicate with Engineering and Quality Assurance to ensure that all project requirements are met
    • Identify and report equipment and process problems, and advise on possible solutions
    • Research test methods and identify test equipment needs
    • Maintain an orderly and safe work space
    • Perform repair and rework of equipment as directed
    • Assemble, wire, and test control panels following drawings, schematics, and procedures
    • Provide quality control oversight of work performed at vendor sites
    • Support other processes when required

Qualifications and Relevant Experience:

    • Associate Degree in a technical field (or equivalent military training), or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
    • 5-10+ years of experience as a technician in industrial electronics or electrical controls, aviation electronics, or similar
    • Ability to operate test and measurement equipment such as digital mutimeters, oscilloscopes, insulation resistance (megger) testers, circuit breaker and relay test equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic test equipment, electronics test and calibration equipment, dimensional inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
    • Knowledge of electrical, electronic, and mechanical components and systems
    • Ability to read and understand procedures, datasheets, equipment manuals, technical drawings and schematics
    • Attention to detail and ability to complete test reports and project documents
    • Must have good organization and communication skills
    • Ability to follow instructions and work under strict quality controls
    • Ability to learn new skills and dedication to training, development, and continuous improvement
    • Experience in electrical control panel assembly, wiring, soldering, and light fabrication (drilling, tapping, punching) is a plus
    • Familiarity with Office Suite and computerized work management
    • Ability to lift 25 lbs, bend over, walk, reach overhead, step on a small ladder. Pass a J1 eye test.
    • Experience with quality assurance programs is a plus
    • Occasional overnight travel required: up to 25% but typically less than 10%

Shipping & Receiving Clerk Part-Time

Job Description:

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for inspecting items received and shipping to vendors/customers per UCI procedures. Also, responsible for maintaining inventory and warehouse per UCI procedures and policies.

The schedule is flexible on work days and shift hours in the time frame of 7 am to 4 pm. Estimate 25 hours per week. Position could transition to full-time at later date.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Daily

  • Understand and follow various procedures for Shipping and Receiving, including material and traceability controls.
  • Perform required inspections of components and assemblies (electrical, mechanical, and chemical) on and off-site.
  • Review item information and verify it meets UCI purchase order and other documentation requirements during Shipping and Receiving activities.
  • Complete necessary documentation after inspections are performed.
  • Communicate with all internal departments and vendors in providing status updates and requesting technical information.
  • Provide logistics support for customers and other internal departments.
  • Preparing and assembling crates for shipment.
  • Maintain product traceability, storage and warehouse orderliness.
  • Maintain (on and off-site) inventory locations.
  • Ship items to vendors/customers using appropriate shipping and packaging methods in order to avoid damage to the parts during shipping and handling.
  • Complete required paperwork to ship items domestic and international locations.
  • Creating non-conformance reports and reporting any quality issues to the manager.

Periodic

  • Witness subcontracted activities in accordance with quality procedures.
  • Some local travel required to drop-ship parts to testing locations.
  • Provide support in training new employees or other department personnel when required
  • Support other internal functions and processes when required

Qualifications:

  • One year experience in performing warehouse, shipping and inventory control functions is preferred
  • Experience in handling, shipping and packaging electrical and mechanical components is preferred
  • Understanding the electronic Database usage and provide necessary input to provide current status and accurate information.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs, bend over, walk, reach overhead, step on a small ladder. Pass a J1 eye test.
  • Be able to work in office and warehouse environment
  • Ability to operate Forklift
  • Must have good organization and communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under strict quality controls

Electrical Design Engineer

The Electrical Design Engineer develops drawings and schematics and interprets technical specifications required by customers.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Creation and refinement of technical drawings to capture design intent and document the key aspects necessary to accomplish the manufacturing goals of a project
  • Creation and refinement of Schematic diagrams and Electrical Wiring Diagrams
  • Development of circuit designs based on customer input and operation requirements
  • Creation and maintenance of technical documents such as bill of materials, installation and maintenance manuals, etc. for each project
  • Perform root cause, apparent cause and/or common cause analysis and testing activities, when required
  • Provide technical support to customers
  • Provide technical support to assemblers and integrators
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
  • Maintain schedules through interaction with project management, engineering, production personnel, and customers
  • Maintain ongoing project requirements and specifications for multiple projects
  • Interaction with vendors to resolve design issues

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD software
  • Experience with NFPA-70 National Electric code NEC requirements
