United Controls International was established as a division of Reliance Electric in 1971, headquartered in Atlanta and was later spun off as an independent company. In March, 2001 the nuclear division of that company was purchased by Mr. Robert B. Hale and divested as CouCou Corporation, D/B/A United Controls International.
UCI meets the highest standards of quality control established by the nuclear industry and other standards authorities. Since 1974, UCI has maintained a 10CFR50 Appendix B program audited by NUPIC.
UCI has designed, manufactured, tested and installed systems in scores of nuclear power generation plants as well as in manufacturing and processing environments around the world. UCI provides industry, utilities and government with systems integration, control panels, motor controls, electric motor services and electrical splicing tape. Utilizing in-house seismic and environmental testing equipment, UCI supplies and tests electrical and I&C components for industry and nuclear qualification/dedication.
Extensive testing capabilities allow UCI to control every element of the most sophisticated control installation. Over the years we have qualified thousands of components for various nuclear power plants. This is exclusive of fabricated assemblies such as MCC's, control boards, sample stations, etc. Based on this array of components, UCI brings wide-range capability to meet the spare parts needs of the nuclear industry. UCI has an extensive array of test equipment, an experienced engineering staff and is able to offer a broad range of contract testing services.
UCI provides utilities with control panels, motor controllers, electric motor reworking and UCI's own NukeTape®. UCI also dedicates and qualifies Instrumentation and Control and other electrical components. UCI maintains a database of thousands of nuclear qualified parts and electrical components that we have tested, dedicated and qualified.
UCI offers specially formulated rubber splicing tapes; one nuclear-qualified and documented for use in harsh environments in nuclear containment, the other suitable for demanding industrial and military applications.
UCI offers a complete range of electric motor services including maintenance, rewinding, reworking, refurbishing and re-engineerined replacement of nuclear safety-related motors.
