NORCROSS, GA –Jim Garrison, Business Development Engineering Manager at United Controls International (UCI), has been selected by Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to speak at their February 16-18 Procurement Forum in San Antonio, Texas.

EPRI’s Annual Procurement Forum brings together hundreds of national and international utilities and vendors who provide products/services to the nuclear industry for 3 days of networking, formal presentations, and open discussion regarding best practices in procurement engineering.

Garrison will be presenting on “Dedication vs. Manufacturing and Control under Appendix B without Dedication” and will be sharing how UCI approaches manufacturing safety-related components for the nuclear industry.

As Business Development Engineering Manager at UCI, Garrison coordinates and supports activities to increase UCI’s market visibility and strategic partnerships. He has led UCI’s Seismic and Equipment Qualification Department, overseeing the review and creation of Nuclear Qualification Test Plans and Reports, and has dealt directly with site procurement, design, seismic and environmental engineers to develop plans to determine the Seismic acceptability, installed design life and susceptibility to Harsh Environment conditions of mechanical and electrical parts located in safety-critical areas of Nuclear Power Generation Stations. Garrison holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and currently serves as a NQA-1 certified lead auditor and subject matter expert in environmental qualification, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, and 10 CFR50 Part 21.
