Nuclear Dedication & Qualification Testing Services
At United Controls International (UCI), we pride ourselves in being the Quality Behind the Power. An essential part of protecting that quality is evaluating the functionality of nuclear industry equipment.
Our testing services are capable of meeting a wide array of customer requirements for a full range of equipment and components. In order to fulfill all customer needs, we extend our services through partnering labs. UCI personnel directly oversee the operation of partnering labs, and all testing procedures are held to the highest industry standards, ensuring accurate results and reliable equipment performance.
Specific testing procedures depend on the component being evaluated. Each component’s critical characteristics shape the design of the tests, ensuring that our customers know the details of the component’s most important qualities for its application. As a part of our dedication to providing innovative solutions, testing procedures are also customized to customers’ specific needs.
Materials Testing ServicesOur in-house materials lab provides the following testing services:
- X-Ray Fluorescence Analyzer (XRF)
- Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR)
- Durometer Hardness
- Brinell/Rockwell Hardness
- Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES)
- Carbon/Sulfur Analysis
Mechanical & Electrical TestingMechanical and electrical test inspectors perform operability tests on components, including:
- Circuit breakers
- Power supplies
- Pressure switches
- Differential pressure units
Refurbishments and RepairsOur labs also perform refurbishments and repairs on printed circuit boards, breakers, motors (AC & DC), power supplies, as well as refurbishments, repairs, rewinds, and failure analyses on AC and DC motors. Additional in-house testing capabilities include:
- Failure analysis
- Leak testing (pressure, hydrostatic, pneumatic, helium)
- Accelerated aging (thermal)
Testing in Collaboration With Our Partnering Labs
With our partnering labs, we perform electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio-frequency interference (RFI) testing to ensure that emission levels are below EMI/RFI susceptibility levels and within appropriate electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing scope and limits (in accordance with EPRI TR-102323). We can also conduct emissions and immunity testing to assess the transmission behavior and susceptibility of components.
We can perform additional tests through collaboration with our partnering labs. Please inquire about any tests not listed, and we will make arrangements to meet your testing needs.
Other Testing ServicesExamples of tests available through collaboration with our partnering labs.
- Full chemistry analysis
- Large-scale seismic testing
- LOCA qualification testing
- Mechanical properties
Rigid, Documented Standards For Quality Assurance
UCI testing procedures follow rigid, documented standards for quality assurance. Some of the control measures we apply include calibrated instrumentation, highly trained personnel, assessment of test equipment condition, control of environmental conditions, and provisions for data acquisition to protect the accuracy of all tests conducted.
