Design, Fabrication, & Integration Services
Aside from all the usual Dedication and Qualification work that UCI does, we have a dedicated design team, whose main focus is developing products.
Our team consists of Design Engineers and Technicians with a combined experience of over 50 years in the design and manufacturing of products both inside and outside of the Nuclear Industry.
Recent projects include Power Distribution Centers, Annunciators, Instrument Panels, Cooling Coils, Relays, Seismic Plates, Bushings, Terminal Boxes and much more.
We are currently developing several in house products, but we also take on many custom to order design challenges.
We can reverse engineer existing products and manufacture like for like equivalents or develop and build new components that have the same fit, form and function as your existing products.
We are a light and nimble family-owned company with an NQA-1 program that is willing and able to help with those difficult projects that don’t seem to have simple solutions.
UCI’s process for design, fabrication, and integration of projects combine efficiency with quality. Whether starting from a list of application requirements or preliminary drawings, we work with our customers through every step of the process to ensure the process runs smoothly and the final product meets their needs. Our team’s schedule remains flexible which enables us to provide quick turnaround times for equipment.
UCI has experience certifying to UL, ETL, CSA, and CE standards.
Past Projects
Below are a few examples of past projects completed by UCI. Please reach out and contact us today to see how our team can help fulfill your nuclear needs.
Turbine Driven Pump Control Cabinet
The Turbine Driven Pump Control Cabinets pictured below were designed, fabricated, and integrated by UCI with three different control lay-outs. They were seismically qualified to IEEE-344-75/87(R93)/2003 and environmentally qualified to IEEE323-74/83(R96)/2004. The table below details the seismic and environmental qualification conditions.
Service Life | Normal Temp. | Relative Humidity | Normal Radiation | Normal Pressure | Cycles | Abnormal Condition | DBE Condition | Accident / Abnormal Radiation | Seismic |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
40 years | 60 – 122ºF | 7 – 95 % | 360 Rads | 14.2 PSI | 10,000 max | 170ºF for 72 hrs | N/A | N/A | Curve-1 & Curve-2 |
Power Distribution Carts
Based on a customer’s specification, the Power Distribution Carts below were designed, fabricated, and integrated by UCI in seven different variations. These non-safety related panels are rated for 600VAC, 600A three phase power distribution and are CSA Certified.
Wall Mounted Terminal Box, NEMA 4X
The Wall Mounted Terminal Boxes below were designed, fabricated, and integrated by UCI. These wall mounted panels were designed to isolate different circuits within a Safety Related Class 1E environment. They were seismically qualified to IEEE 344-75/87(R93)/2003 and environmentally qualified to IEEE 323-74/83(R96)/2004. Additionally, they meet the requirements of NEMA 4X and are CE certified. The table below details the seismic and environmental qualification conditions.
Service Life | Normal Temp. | Relative Humidity | Normal Radiation | Normal Pressure | DBE Condition | Abnormal Radiation | Seismic |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
40 years | 10 – 50 ºC | 10 – 90% | 5.3 x 103 Rads | -0.10 to -1.0in wg | 0 – 6 hrs / 6 – 12 hrs / 12 hrs – 100 days 100ºC, 100% Humidity, 13.8in wg 66ºC, 100% Humidity, 13.8in wg 66ºC, 90% Humidity, 0in wg | 1.0 x 106 Rads | Curve-1 & Curve-2 |
